about

The first single/EP from Dialect Trio to follow their debut album and remix album. This track and it's various remixes and versions finds our heroes exploring Sephardic modes, north African and middle eastern motifs combine swimmingly with Cumbia grooves and Dub Reggae. Several remixes from Piper Street Sound flesh this work out and expand the soundscape to include vintage drum machine tones and infusions of acidic synths.

Frequent collaborator and founder of Nu Cumbia Experience John Newell, or El Guero Unico as he’s known via his transnational bass production nom de plume, explores the dark, modal tone of Sephardim. With incense-laden lines and a slow, trance-inducing vibe, he somehow manages to keep the remix grounded solidly in cumbia rhythm, and brings a bit of North Africa to South America. Or vice versa…?

about

Dialect Trio Atlanta, Georgia

Dialect Trio play funky, energetic music that knows no bounds. International influences prevail without their mixture sounding like “world” music. Deceiving name aside, they have a formidably large sound, using live looping, percussion programming, and a roster of constantly changing guest horns and percussionist to bolster their interactive, synergetic playing as a trio of Drums, Bass and Guitar. ... more
