about

Piper Street Sound (Matt Mansfield) released an album called Chicha De La Piedmont this April through Boom One Records. It was an exploration of Chicha music and Cumbia rhythms by a producer from Atlanta, Georgia with a back ground in dub, reggae and electronic production. The new mix of sounds worked out nicely, receiving encouragement from many producers working in cumbia digital, nu-cumbia and tropical bass, inspiring Mansfield to carry on his genre blending experiments.

Now Piper Street Sound presents a version of the song Chicha De La Piedmont, adding Dialect Trio's multifarious talents to the mix- lead guitar work by Russ Bledsoe, conga and timbales from Santiago Junca and Robby Astrove's funky drumming to create a new take on the song. The track is reworked by Piper Street Sound the producer adding layers of dub effects and hints of dancehall, reggaeton and hip hop.

German DJ/Producer Piska Power contributes a remix that takes the piece’s sense of Andean altitude to atmospheric heights. With its chill, minimalistic approach, his delicate but profound rearrangement bespeaks the rarified air and humbling beauty of free fall.

about

Dialect Trio Atlanta, Georgia

Dialect Trio play funky, energetic music that knows no bounds. International influences prevail without their mixture sounding like “world” music. Deceiving name aside, they have a formidably large sound, using live looping, percussion programming, and a roster of constantly changing guest horns and percussionist to bolster their interactive, synergetic playing as a trio of Drums, Bass and Guitar. ... more
